Why apex court struck down part of President order

The Supreme Court upheld the Centre's decision to scrap J&K's special status under Article 370 but struck down a portion of the presidential Constitutional Order that amended Article 367. The court stated that allowing amendments in a circuitous manner would be disastrous and evade the constitutional procedure. The court emphasized that only the procedure specified in Article 370(3) can be used to amend or modify Article 370. The only disapproved action of the Centre was the language change in Paragraph 2 of the Constitutional Order, which the court deemed ultra vires of Article 370(1)(d).
