The Delhi High Court has asked the Indian government to make a decision within a week on a request from the mother of a Kerala woman on death row in Yemen. The woman, Nimisha Priya, was convicted of murdering a Yemeni national by injecting him with sedatives to retrieve her passport. Priya's mother seeks permission to travel to Yemen and negotiate "blood money" to save her daughter. The court has directed the government to decide on the request within one week. The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that they are aware of the case and are providing consular assistance.
