Reading preamble a must in Karnataka schools

The Karnataka government has made it compulsory for students and teachers in all educational institutions to read aloud the preamble to the Constitution during morning assembly, in order to create awareness of constitutional responsibilities. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the importance of the Constitution for democracy and warned against efforts to destroy it, claiming that some forces are conspiring to implement Manusmriti, which would result in the majority of the population being pushed into slavery. Around 2.3 crore people participated in an event where the preamble was read.
