Supreme Court quashes order on BEd for primary

The Supreme Court of India has ruled that only diploma holders in elementary education can be appointed as primary school teachers, stating that BEd degree-holders are not trained to teach younger children. The court quashed a 2018 notification that specified BEd as a qualification for primary teachers, saying that appointing teachers not trained to teach kids at that level would compromise the quality of education.
